Serum Plain Tube
Features of Products
AMPULAB Serum tubes are coated with silicone and micronized silica
particles to accelerate activate the coagulation process with 8~10 times
gentle inversion for serum determinations in chemistry. Specially developed
components on the wall make serum tubes reduce adherence of red blood
cells to tube wall.
Samples processed in these tubes may also be used for routine blood
screening, immunohematology, and diagnostic testing of serum for
infectious disease.

SSGT (Serum Seperation Gel Tube)
Features of Products
AMPULAB Serum with Gel contains a barrier polymer in the base of the tube and this material causes it to move upward to the serum–clot interface forming a stable separation barrier during centrifugation. Serum may be aspirated directly from the collection tube eliminating the need for manual transfer to another container. In the primary tube and under recommended laboratory conditions, certain parameters remain stable for up to 48 hours.

EDTA Tube
Features of Products
AMPULAB EDTA Tubes are coated with K2-EDTA or K3-EDTA for blocking coagulation cascade by binding calcium ions in the blood sample. EDTA tubes must be inverted 8~10 times to assure complete mixing with blood for correct coagulation value. EDTA tubes are used for direct sampling analysis since erythrocytes and leucocytes are stable for 24 hours with EDTA while thrombocytes are stable for 6~8 hours. Blood smearing should be done within 3 hours after blood collection. EDTA tubes are for examination of whole blood in hematology

Coagulation Tube (Double Layer Tube)

AMPULAB Coagulation tubes are used for examination of coagulation
parameters.
Coagulation tubes contain a buffered sodium citrate solution. It is available
with a citrate concentration of 0.109 mol/l (3.2%) or 0.129 mol/l (3.8%). The
choice of the concentration depends on the policy of the laboratories. The
mixing ratio is 1 part citrate solution to 9 parts blood.

Plasma Tube
Features of Products
AMPULAB Plasma tubes are coated with lithium heparin or sodium heparin to inhibit clotting. Heparin activates antithrombin, thus blocking the coagulation cascade and producing a whole blood/plasma sample instead of clotted blood and serum. Lithium determination should not be performed in lithium heparin tubes. Samples collected in these tubes are used for plasma determinations in chemistry.

PSGT (Plasma Seperation Gel Tube)

AMPULAB Plasma tubes with gel contain spray-coated lithium heparin and a polymer gel in the bottom for plasma separation. The specific gravity of this material can make the barrier gel move upward to the plasma – clot interface during centrifugation and it forms a stable barrier separating the plasma from cells. ESR Tube

SSGT(Serum Separation Gel Tube) User Manual
STEP 01

Draw blood as specified volume
STEP 02

After drawing blood into tubes, surely make tubes inversion at least 8~10 times for good reaction of blood and clot activator.
STEP 03

After inversion, keep tubes on the rack at least 30 min for clotting
STEP 04

Keep centrifugation speed 1,800~2,000 RCF(G) for 10 min
STEP 05

After centrifugation, the horizontal gel-barrier is the best for data
How to Use
STEP 01

Prepare all material for blood collection, and decap multi-needle.
STEP 02

Fix multi-needle to the holder
STEP 03

Select a site for venipuncture and clean it with the alcohol swab to keep sterile. After drying alcohol, hold the needle with its slanting surface of skin.
STEP 04

During injection, inject a tube on the other side of multi-needle. The patient’s arm should be downward at this time and release tourniquet while flowing blood.
STEP 05

Finishing blood collection for one tube, remove the tube and put other tube into multi-needle. The holder and multi-needle should be fixed at this time.
STEP 06

Remove multi-needle from skin when finishing blood collection work, and stop bleeding with alcohol swab.
Caution in Use
Before Use
- You should not fasten tourniquet too tightly (about 100mmHg), and don't collect blood when fastening tourniquet more than 1 min.
- Deinfect the venipuncture part with alcohol swab, and inject after drying the skin.
- The elbow should be placed on cushion, and headed downward.
In Use
- During vein injection, hold needle 10-20 degree above the skin, and be careful not to penetrate the wall of vein.
- When replacing the tube, fix it with one hand not to move the needle.
- During blood collection, be careful not to touch additives to tube cap or multi-needle.
- When removing needle from vein, be careful not to hurt it, and cover alcohol swab against blood contamination.
After Use
- All tubes that have blood afer collection should be shaked about 8 times up and down. (Coagulation tube is 4 times)
- Every tube should be applied to proper centrifugation.
- Be careful about hemolysis.

※ Centrifuge can be influential the component of gel barrier. Swing-out rotor centrifuge instrument can work more gel barrier.
Gel barrier work should be at room temperature (15.24C).
Troubleshooting Guide
IF AN INCOMPLETE COLLECTION OR NO BLOOD IS OBTAINED
- Change the position of the needle. Move it forward it may not be in the lumen).
- or move it backward (it may have penetrated too far).
- Adjust the angle (the bevel may be against the vein wall).
- Loosen the tourniquet. It may be obstructing blood flow.
- Try another tube. There may be no vacuum in the one being used.
- Re-anchor the vein. Veins sometimes roll away from the point of the needle and puncture site.
IF BLOOD STOPS FLOWING INTO THE TUBE
- The vein may have collapsed; resecure the tourniquet to increase venous filling. If this is not successful, remove the this is not successful, remove the needle, take care of the puncture site, and redraw.
- The needle may have pulled out of the vein when switching tubes. Hold equipment firmly and place fingers against patient's arm, using the flange for leverage when withdrawing and inserting tubes.
PROBLEMS OTHER THAN AN INCOMPLETE COLLECTION
- A hematoma forms under the skin adjacent to the puncture site - release the tourniquet immediately and withdraw theneedle. Apply firm pressure.
- Hematoma formation is a problem in older patients.
- The blood is bright red (arterial) rather than venous. Apply firm pressure for more than 5 minutes.
